Privacy policy for the use of the umschalten.de website
General information on data processing
As a matter of principle, we only collect and use personal data to the extent that this is necessary to provide a website that is functional and easy to use, as well as our content and services.
We process your data only and insofar as this is permitted by legal regulations. The legal basis for the processing can be found in the following explanations.
Your data will be stored until the purpose of the storage no longer applies. In some cases, European or national regulations, laws or other provisions or contracts to which our company is subject stipulate a longer or shorter storage period. In this case, the data will be deleted at the end of this period. You can find more information in the following explanations.
Provision of the website and creation of log files
Every time you visit our website, our system automatically collects data and information from your computer system. We collect the following data:
- Your IP address
- Date and time of access
- retrieved URL
- HTTP Status Code + Size
- referring URL
- User agent (browser identification + operating system)
This data is also stored in the log files of our system. The aforementioned data is not stored together with other personal data.
It is necessary for our system to temporarily store the IP address so that the website can be delivered to your computer. For the duration of the respective use of the website, your IP address must remain stored for this purpose. The storage in log files therefore serves the functionality of the website. We also use this data to optimise our website and secure our information technology systems. The data is not used for marketing purposes in this context. The legal basis for the temporary storage of the data and the log files is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f of the German Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter: "DSGVO").
The data is stored until it is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. Insofar as data is required for the provision of the website, the necessity ceases to apply when the respective session has ended. The data is then deleted.
If the aforementioned data is further stored, however, your IP address will be deleted or alienated in this case, so that it is no longer possible to assign the calling internet connection.
The collection of data for the provision of the website and the storage of the data in log files is absolutely necessary for the operation of the website.
This data is collected and processed in order to display the website to you, to ensure and improve stability, and for security reasons. The legal basis for this processing is Art. 6 para. 1 f) DSGVO. The collection of this data and the storage of the data in log files is absolutely necessary for the operation of the website. The user therefore does not have the option to object.
The temporarily stored log data listed above is deleted from the web server after 30 days.
Use of cookies
[borlabs-cookie type="btn-cookie-preference" title="Change cookie settings"/]
We use so-called "cookies" on our website. These are text files that are stored in or by your internet browser on your computer system. When you visit our website, a cookie may be stored on your system. This contains an individual character string that can be used to identify your browser the next time you visit the website.
In the following sections on point 1 ("Technically required cookies") and point 2 ("Cookies for analysing surfing behaviour"), we explain in detail which types of cookies we use and which data is processed there in each case.
Regardless of the type and purpose of the cookie, however, the following applies in summary to the storage period:
You have unrestricted control over the use of cookies. This is because they are stored on your computer and the data is transmitted from it to our site. By changing the settings in your internet browser, you can deactivate or restrict the transmission of cookies. Cookies that have already been stored can be deleted at any time. This can also be done automatically by setting the browser accordingly. If cookies are generally deactivated for our website, it may no longer be possible to use all functions of the website to their full extent.
When you access our website, you will be informed about the use of cookies for analysis purposes and we will obtain your consent to process the data used in this context.
You can object to the use of cookies at any time.
1. technically necessary cookies

The legal basis for the processing of personal data using cookies is Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO. The data collected through technically necessary cookies are not used to create user profiles.
The above applies to the storage period of technically necessary cookies.
2. cookies for the analysis of surfing behaviour (third-party cookies)
We also use cookies on our website that enable an analysis of your surfing behaviour. This data is not stored together with your other personal data.
The following data can be transmitted in this way:
- Search terms entered
- Frequency of page views
- Use of website functions
- Date and time of access
- Browser, operating system, screen resolution, screen colours, Flash version and Java support, language setting, location
- Internet provider
- Type of mobile device
Analysis cookies are used to improve the quality of our website and its content. Through the analysis cookies, we learn how the website is used and can thus constantly optimise our offer. These purposes are also our legitimate interest in processing the personal data according to Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO.
We use the following cookie-based services on our website:
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. ("Google"). Google uses cookies. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
Google will use this information on our behalf for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. In doing so, pseudonymous usage profiles can be created from the processed data.
We only use Google Analytics with IP anonymisation activated. This means that your IP address is shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. The IP address transmitted by your browser will not be merged with other Google data.
You can prevent the storage of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser software; you can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website by Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
For more information on Google's use of data for advertising purposes, settings and opt-out options, please visit Google's websites: www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/partners ("Google's use of data when you use our partners' websites or apps"), www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads ("Use of data for advertising purposes"), www.google.de/settings/ads ("Manage the information Google uses to show you ads") and www.google.com/ads/preferences ("Determine what ads Google shows you").
As an alternative to the browser add-on or within browsers on mobile devices, please click this link to prevent the collection by Google Analytics within this website in the future. Hotjar, Hotjar Ltd - Web Analytics
Hotjar, Hotjar Ltd - Web Analytics
Based on your consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) sentence 1 lit. a DS-GVO, we use Hotjar, a web analytics service provided by Hotjar Ltd. ("Hotjar"). For this purpose, an order processing contract has been concluded with Hotjar in accordance with Art. 28 DS-GVO. In addition, Hotjar uses other processors, whereby a transfer of personal data to third countries subject to data protection law (e.g. USA) cannot be ruled out. For this purpose, standard data protection clauses have been concluded in accordance with Art. 46 para. 2 lit. c DS-GVO. Accordingly, your consent also includes the possible transfer and processing of data by further processors of Hotjar in third countries under data protection law. In this regard, we would like to expressly point out any risks, for example the more difficult enforcement of data protection rights.
With Hotjar, we can record your mouse movements, scrolling movements and clicks, among other things. With the help of Hotjar, we can also determine how long you stayed on a certain spot with the mouse pointer. From this information, Hotjar creates so-called heat maps, which can be used to determine which areas of the website users prefer to look at. Furthermore, we can determine how long you stayed on a page and when you left it. In addition, we can track at which point you abandoned your entries in a contact form (so-called conversion funnels). Areas of the website in which personal data of you or third parties are displayed are automatically hidden by Hotjar and are therefore not traceable at any time. In order to exclude the possibility of direct personal references, IP addresses are only processed anonymously. All processed personal data is deleted or completely anonymised after 12 months.
YouTube
On our website, we use a service from YouTube LLC, 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA to integrate videos. The videos are stored on www.YouTube.com. You can play these videos directly from our website. The videos are all embedded in "enhanced data protection mode", which means that no data about you as a user is stored by YouTube unless you play the videos. Nevertheless, YouTube contacts the Google service Double Click, but according to YouTube, no data is stored in this case. Only when you play the videos is your IP address and the information that you have watched the video stored by YouTube. If you are logged in to YouTube, this information is also assigned to your YouTube user account. If you do not wish this, you must log out of your YouTube account before playing the video. We have no influence on the data collection and processing by YouTube. You can find more information about data processing by YouTube in their privacy policy. You can find this at www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy.
LinkedIn Insight Tag
This website uses the conversion tool "LinkedIn Insight Tag" from LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company (Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland). This enables targeted advertising outside of this website without identifying you as a website user. This serves to analyse and optimise our online offer, in particular retargeting, i.e. renewed advertising on other websites and allocation to target groups.
You can revoke your consent to the above-mentioned service at any time by calling up the cookie banner [link] again or by generally changing the cookie settings.
In connection with this service, we process your personal data as follows:
a) Purpose of the processing
We process your personal data in order to use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to play out advertisements.
b) Legal basis of the processing
The processing of your personal data to use the LinkedIn Insight Tag to play out advertisements is based on your consent.
c) Recipients/categories of recipients of your personal data
We disclose your personal data to LinkedIn.
d) Storage period of your personal data
We store your personal data as long as this is necessary for the use of the LinkedIn Insight Tag for the display of advertising
e) Third country reference of the processing of your personal data
LinkedIn processes your personal data in the USA. The USA does not offer a sufficient level of data protection. However, any transfer of personal data will take place in compliance with the conditions laid down in Articles 44-50 of the GDPR and the other provisions of the GDPR in order to ensure that the level of protection for natural persons thereby guaranteed is maintained.
f) Obligation to provide your personal data
You are not obliged to disclose personal data. However, unless you have used the above-mentioned function to deactivate tracking by the LinkedIn Insight Tag, it is not possible to access this website without processing your personal data within the framework of the LinkedIn Insight Tag.
Contact and other forms
You can communicate with us via various contact forms on our website. If you enter data in the input mask provided for this purpose, this data will be transmitted to us and stored. This involves the following data:

- First and last name
- E-mail address

- Comment
- Date and time of sending
For the processing of the data, we refer to this data protection declaration before sending. The legal basis for data processing in this respect is Art. 6 para. 1 lit a DSGVO.
The processing of other data (e.g. connection data) during the submission process is intended to prevent misuse of the contact form and to ensure the security of our information technology systems. The legal basis in this respect is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f DSGVO.
If contact is made via the e-mail address provided, the personal data transmitted with your e-mail will be stored. The legal basis for the processing of your data is Art. Para. 1 lit. f DSGVO, as we have a legitimate interest in this.
We process personal data from the input mask or e-mails exclusively for processing the contact. The data will not be passed on to third parties. The data is used exclusively for correspondence.
If the contact is in connection with the conclusion of a contract, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO is also the legal basis for the processing.
We delete your data as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. For personal data from the input mask of the contact form and for data transmitted by e-mail, this occurs when the respective correspondence with you has ended. The correspondence is terminated when it can be inferred from the circumstances that the matter in question has been conclusively clarified.
You can revoke your consent to the processing of personal data at any time. In the case of contacting us by e-mail, you can object to the storage of your personal data at any time. In this case, however, a reply to your message is not possible.
